There are a lot of people in the world who are anti-porn. To those people I say: “Wait… what? Porn is awesome, duh.” Below are some incredible facts that I hope will help you rationalize and/or intellectualize your porn addiction.
1. Working hard: Nearly 2.5 billion emails per day are pornographic, which is 8% of all emails.
2. Random: Thoa Birch’s parents were both porn actors, and both appeared in Deep Throat.
3. People love the idea of having sex with moms. In a study conducted by PornHub (one of the biggest porn sites in the world), they found that the most porn-enthusiastic age group is between 18 and 24-years-old, and that their number-one favorite search term is “lesbian, “ followed by “stepmom,” “teen,” “MILF,” and “squirt.” Meanwhile, 25-to-34-year-olds aren’t far behind in terms of viewership, and search for the the same top five terms, although “stepmom” and “MILF” are their two favorites. In third place, 35-to-44-year-olds aren’t interested in squirting, but they are the most likely to enter the word “mom” into the porn search bar.
4. Girls, keep up! Only one in three visitors to porn sites is a woman.
5. Keeping our priorities straight: The worldwide porn industry is worth $100 billion, and between $10 billion and $12 billion of that comes from the United States. To put that into perspective, porn revenue is larger than all professional basketball, baseball, and football franchises combined, as well as larger than the combined revenues of ABC, CBS, and NBC ($6.2 billion).
6. Un-chill: In North Korea and Iran, producing and distributing porn is punishable by death.
7. Role reversal: While straight male porn stars are usually paid between $200 and $600 per scene, depending on their popularity, women performers earn between $600 and $1000 a scene. However, men can triple their paychecks if they act in gay porn. #GayForPay
8. Lol: Researchers from the University of Montreal tried conducting a study about how porn affects relationships. However, it was a massive fail, because they couldn’t put together a control group of men in their 20’s who haven’t watched porn.
9. Not good: Child pornography generates around $3 billion annually.
10. Horny hypocrites: A Harvard study found that online porn subscriptions are higher in conservative states.
11. Random: François Sagat, the renowned French gay porn star, used to be Carine Roitfeld’s assistant.
12. Nourishment: A survey of Hilton, Marriot, Hyatt, Sheraton, and Holliday Inn hotels found that almost 70% of their room service profits come from porn movies.
13. The word “pornography” comes from the Greek words porne (prostitute) and graphos (to write or to record). So basically, pornography means “writing about prostitutes.” (Wait… so does that mean Slutever is porn?!)
